Results: The standard intermediate-weighted and fat-suppressed T2

Results: The standard intermediate-weighted and fat-suppressed T2-weighted MR sequences had overall sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy values of 100% and 100%, 88% and 93%, and 95% and 95% for the

diagnosis of tears of medial and lateral menisci, respectively, as well as sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy values of 82%, 97%, and 95%, respectively, for articular cartilage defects. Corresponding sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy values for multiecho MR imaging with synthetic-TE MR image generation were 92% and 100%, 88% and 87%, and 90% and 90% for the diagnosis of tears of medial and lateral menisci, respectively, as well as sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy values of 70%, 99%, and 95%, respectively, for articular cartilage defects.

Conclusion: For the evaluation of menisci and articular cartilage, images generated with the synthetic-TE technique are a potentially selleck kinase inhibitor viable alternative to standard T2-weighted images obtained at different TEs. Furthermore, the synthetic-TE approach allowed assessment Milciclib of abnormalities of menisci and articular cartilage with high sensitivity and specificity. (C) RSNA, 2010″

presents a systematic review of long period fiber gratings (LPFGs) written by the CO2 laser irradiation technique. First, various fabrication techniques based on CO2 laser irradiations are demonstrated to write LPFGs in different types of optical fibers such as conventional glass fibers, solid-core photonic crystal fibers, and air-core photonic bandgap fibers. Second, possible mechanisms,

e. g., residual stress relaxation, glass structure changes, and physical deformation, of refractive index modulations in the CO2-laser-induced LPFGs are analyzed. Third, asymmetrical mode coupling, resulting from single-side laser irradiation, is discussed to understand unique Erastin cost optical properties of the CO2-laser-induced LPFGs. Fourthly, several pretreament and post-treatment techniques are proposed to enhance the efficiency of grating fabrications. Fifthly, sensing applications of the CO2-laser-induced LPFGs are investigated to develop various LPFG-based temperature, strain, bend, torsion, pressure, and biochemical sensors. Finally, communication applications of the CO2-laser-induced LPFGs are investigated to develop various LPFG-based band-rejection filters, gain equalizers, polarizers, and couplers. “We analyzed two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the IGF2 and CYP21 genes in Nellore cattle participating in the Brazilian Animal Breeding Program. The SNPs were found in exon 6 of the IGF2 (insulin-like growth factor 2) gene (RFLP/MboII) as well as in the promoter region of the CYP21 (steroid 21-hydroxylase) gene (RFLP/HpaII) of these animals.
