The bilayer films showed good optical transparency (>= 80%) and low resistivity of similar to 10(-4) Omega cm. Different transport behavior of the MoOx/ZnGa0.05O films grown at different T-s (substrate temperature) was observed in temperature-dependent resistivity measurements. The bilayer film at higher T-s showed metallic conductivity behavior down to 113 K. Moreover, a blueshift of the absorption edge in the transmission spectrum was observed

with the increase in T-s, indicating an increase in the carrier concentration. It was observed that the ZnGa0.05O films with ultrathin MoOx (similar to 1-2 nanometers) overlayer showed a higher work function (varying from 4.7 to 5.1 eV) as compared to the single layer ZnGa0.05O film work function (similar to 4.4 eV). A correlation between the surface work function and MoOx selleckchem layer thickness is observed. The higher work function of the MoOx overlayer is envisaged to improve the transport of the Chk inhibitor carriers across the heterojunction

in a solid state device, thus resulting an increase in device efficiency.”
“Background Needlestick injuries (NSI) remain an occupational hazard for doctors. Previous reports suggested that needlestick practice among interns could be improved.

Aims We aimed to report the current occupational sharp practice and experience amongst a modern cohort of Irish interns.

Methods A self-designed questionnaire was distributed among interns at two Dublin-based teaching hospitals.

Results Thirty-one interns completed

a self-designed questionnaire. Notably, only 26% routinely wore gloves when performing phlebotomy like tasks; 35% considered their training adequate; 26% AS1842856 mouse had suffered a NSI within the first 8 months of work-over half occurred between 0000 and 0800 hours. There was a higher rate of reporting NSI than in historical reports.

Conclusion Improvements have been made in occupational health management of NSI. However, practical preparation for internship continues to remain a concern. Efforts are needed to reduce unnecessary risk of suffering a NSI among our junior doctors.”
“We study epitaxial NdNiO3 thin films on NdGaO3(001) single-crystal substrates grown using a pulsed-laser deposition method. The films show a clear first-order metal-insulator transition (MIT) at T-MI similar to 240 K, which is significantly higher than T-MI similar to 190 K in bulk NdNiO3. The x-ray reciprocal space map shows in-plane tensile and out-of-plane compressive strain, stabilizing the more distorted NdNiO3 thin films with the higher transition temperature. Hard x-ray photoemission shows changes across the MIT and the bandwidth-controlled charge-transfer gap opens due to the reduced p-d hybridization in the low-temperature insulating phase.”
